Climate activists have dumped fake coal outside the headquarters of a major insurance company in London in protest against the fossil fuel industry.

Members of the Extinction Rebellion group used a tipper truck to deposit the rubble outside Lloyds of London in the City at around 7am on Friday.

Protesters placed safety barriers around the area and placed placards in the mound reading ‘stop Adani’, ‘we are the dead canaries’ and ‘do not insure the West Cumbria coal mine.’

They held banners reading ‘climate criminals’, ‘fossil fuels = death’ and ‘insuring fossil fuels = ensuring climate breakdown.’
