'Exquisitely' - Nottingham Forest winger the star of the day according to pundit

Danny Cowley says Sammy Ameobi scored the goal of the day in the Championship as Nottingham Forest beat Millwall.

The winger netted two fine goals in the 3-1 win at the City Ground as Forest made it seven unbeaten.

Cowley says the second, which saw him curl the ball in from outside the box after playing a one-two with Alex Mighten, was the pick of the bunch across the whole division.

"Two fantastic goals for Sammy Ameobi. Coming in on his left he's always dangerous," the former Huddersfield boss said on the EFL on Quest show.

"He probably doesn't score the goals a player of his quality should. The second goal for me is probably the goal of the day in the Championship.

"It's a really nice piece of play which started from the goalkeeper and as he comes in, he plays and follows and then bends it in exquisitely. It's a really good run for Nottingham Forest."

The Reds moved to within one point of 16th place Millwall, who are without a win in four. Cowley's fellow pundit Ali Maxwell says they need to rediscover their defensive resolve to kick-start their season.

"It's only 10 goals in 15 games. That's a desperate return. There's been slippage at both ends of the pitch," he said.

"Previously you knew Millwall would be tough to break down. They very rarely conceded more than a goal in games, so they're always in games.

"They're good from set pieces so they've picked up a lot of points. At the back they seem to have lost that structure or zeal for defending.

"I'm not sure exactly, but whatever it is it's not working. Going forwards they've never quite convinced in open play as a team that creates a tonne of chances."
