- The team behind ExpressVPN launched a new free secure VPN software
- EventVPN is built on premium security features and an ad model with built-in privacy
- EventVPN comes with both a free and paid version
The team behind ExpressVPN has just released a secure and free VPN software in a bid to deliver premium privacy at no cost.
What TechRadar's reviewers already rated as one of the best VPNs on the market, ExpressVPN, claimed to have built EventVPN as a direct response to a rise in low-quality free VPN apps.
EventVPN blends premium security features with an innovative privacy-first advertising model, while offering an unlimited bandwidth free VPN.
"Each and every time online privacy is threatened, downloads of unsafe VPNs peak," says Shay Peretz, Chief Operating Officer at ExpressVPN. "Privacy should be a human right, not just limited to those who can pay for it with money."
EventVPN is now available to download and use on the Apple App Store and comes with full support for iOS 26 with Liquid Glass compatibility as standard.
Subscribers can opt for either the free version, which includes coverage for one device across servers in 35+ locations, or a paid version that comes with an eight-device allowance and a server network across 125+ locations worldwide.
EventVPN - all we know
EventVPN is joining a handful of providers already offering a free VPN service, such as Proton VPN and WireGuard, that deliver premium protection.
Yet, the provider claims EventVPN is unique. That's because, as ExpressVPN explains in its official announcement, "[EventVPN] does not rely on a backend or database to manage users. Instead, it uses Apple account validation and subscription receipts to confirm whether a user has an active subscription."
Once validated, EventVPN issues an anonymous access and connection token, the provider explains, which allows users to connect with the infrastructure provided by ExpressVPN without directly managing any personal user data.
EventVPN also boasts a privacy-first ad model, which promises that "any advertising stays entirely separate and distinct from the hardware that makes VPN connections possible."
This, Peretz from ExpressVPN explains, means that EventVPN can deliver premium features like torrenting and streaming VPN unblocking at no cost.
He told TechRadar: "Ads with built-in privacy mean that EventVPN can be transparent about how it makes its money as a free service, and also give users access to a reliable free VPN, without sacrificing features, privacy, or security."

The service offers some of the best ExpressVPN features. These include a strict no-log VPN policy, kill switch, post-quantum encryption, and RAM-only servers.
EventVPN is currently available for Apple devices only at the time of writing, meaning iPhone, iPad, and Mac products. The provider is now looking at how this innovative structure can be transferred to other operating systems, like Android or Linux – but there are no set plans yet.
EventVPN isn't simply a free service, though. A paid subscription is also available for $69.99 per year to those users in need of more flexibility than the free option.
That said, the provider suggests all privacy enthusiasts who require a richer security suite and more features opt for ExpressVPN instead. You can find more info on ExpressVPN's new tier plans here to help you choose.
