Expo in Aurora to focus on home ownership

April 25--An event designed to help people purchase a house in Aurora is set for Saturday in the city.

The third annual Experience Aurora Homeownership Expo will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at East Aurora High School, 500 Tomcat Lane.

Entrance to the expo is free, and there will be free food and entertainment.

"The city of Aurora has been ranked at the top in suburban home sales and was named as the sixth most economically diverse city in America," said Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner. "These facts illustrate that thousands of families have chosen Aurora to live, work, and raise their families. The Homeownership Expo will spotlight the many great features we have to offer."

Trolley tours of 10 downtown homes will be given and Realtors and bankers will be on hand to help potential buyers find a house.

Details on financial assistance programs of up to $12,000 to first-time homebuyers and those who haven't purchased a home in three years will also be available.

Visitors can meet with representatives of organizations in Aurora including West Aurora School District 129, East Aurora School District 131, Oswego School District 308, Joseph Corporation, Realtor Association of the Fox Valley, Aurora Police Department, Fox Valley Park District, SciTech Hands On Museum, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Aurora Dental Service, Illinois Student Assistance Commission, Illinois Housing Development Authority, Emmanuel House and Gateway to Laughter.
