Explorer who visits abandoned buildings shares weirdest discovery from 'untouched' homes

An urban explorer who visits abandoned buildings up and down the country has revealed some of her weirder discoveries on her travels.

Chloe, who posts photos and videos of her adventures on her social media accounts, has been exploring buildings such as houses, churches and community centres since 2016.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: "What got me interested in exploring abandoned places was coming across YouTube videos of people going into abandoned hospitals."

She added that, in particular, she was fascinated by influencer Joe Weller's trip to an abandoned psychiatric unit in Hellingly, East Sussex, and wanted to get in on the action herself.

Chloe says she finds different things on every visit and she tries her hardest to mix up the type of building she explores.

She said: "The most common thing I find in these places are old singer sewing machines, pianos and old photographs."

On her TikTok channel, @Chloeurbex, Chloe posts videos of the buildings she's wandered through - showing corridors filled with cobwebs, rusty household appliances and old cars with weeds growing inside them.

But while many of the buildings are clearly old and neglected, much of the furniture in them remains eerily intact and untouched - and Chloe reckons you can learn a lot about people who lived and worked in the buildings before they were abandoned.

"If it’s a house, and if items are left [behind] you can see what job they did (uniforms, documents), who lived there and sometimes who their family were and maybe even what pornography they were into," she explained.

Over the years while she's been exploring, Chloe admits she's had plenty of surprises - both good and bad - but insists she never feels frightened by walking around the spooky buildings.

Technically, Chloe's hobby is trespassing, and she's even been pursued by the police on one of her ventures - but claims she was let go when cops realised she was "just being nosy."

One of her most viral videos on TikTok shows her adventure around an abandoned leisure centre, where she walked around a completely empty swimming pool, climbed through the soft play area and even made use of the water slides.

Despite racking up hundreds of thousands of views on her videos, Chloe doesn't reveal the addresses of the places she's visited - and she explained why in one video.

She said: "The wrong people get hold of them and they don't respect the places."
