Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohamed Al Jaber condemned the Houthi militia’s leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi after a speech on Saturday in which he tried to sanction the looting of the Yemeni people.
“The leader of the Iranian Houthi terrorist militias is hiding in his cave with special protection from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and ordering his followers to kill the Yemenis and violate agreements. He also deceives his allies and attacks his neighbors and then comes out of his cave to speak in the name of Islam and Yemen,” Al Jaber tweeted on his official Twitter account.
Al-Houthi took advantage of the death of Saleh al-Sammad, head of the militia’s Supreme Political Council, to legitimize the looting of the Yemenis by issuing a draft law that allows him to collect more Yemeni funds and wealth to finance his war effort and spend on his militias.
The Yemenis were quick to mock the Houthis’ attempts to legitimize the theft of the people.
Al-Houthi also gave direct orders to businessmen and merchants to pay more money to fund the war effort and spend on the militia fighters on the battlefields.
He consequently exposed the extent of his authority, revealing that he controls all Houthi affairs and movements of its leaders. He is also aware of all the minute details related to what is happening in Sanaa and other areas under his militias’ control.
The acknowledgment of his authority, according to many observers of Yemeni affairs, reflects the deceit of the militias’ public discourse regarding their will to coexist with other powers since its leader is the absolute ruler.
This also demonstrates his direct responsibility for all the crimes and abuses committed by his followers.
Although he tried to deny his direct responsibility for the appointment of his son-in-law and office director Mahdi al-Mashat as Samamd’s replacement at the head of the Supreme Political Council, this very denial implies the exact opposite.
Al-Houthi instructed the militia leaders to choose the successor in order to keep power in the hands of his followers and inner circle, thereby ensuring that no authority is granted to representatives of other forces that are allied with him.
