
A man has been seriously injured while trying to light a commercial-grade firework during football celebrations in Victoria's northeast.
The 27-year-old had been marking the end of the football season with a group of friends in Yarrawonga on Tuesday night when he tried to ignite the device.
He suffered serious injuries as it exploded and was airlifted to hospital.
Police on Wednesday charged a 45-year-old man with reckless conduct endangering serious injury and possessing an explosive substance over allegedly supplying the firework.
He was bailed to appear before Wangaratta Magistrates Court on December 4.
A 25-year-old man was also arrested and was assisting police with their inquiries.
