Explained: The key ruling change that should delight Nottingham Forest fans

A massive hint has been dropped regarding the future of the current English football season, and how Nottingham Forest and the rest of the Championship might end up completing the season.

UEFA have moved to confirm that the traditional English football blackout on 3pm on Saturday's has been lifted after an FA request.

This move would strongly hint that preparations are in place to play matches behind closed doors - away from the general public - to conclude the current campaign.

A continuation of the current season would benefit Forest, Leeds United, West Brom, Fulham, Brentford and all who are fighting for promotion to the Premier League, allowing them to settle the score via matches played.

Still, there are benefits for clubs outside the promotion picture as income is still up for grabs via TV income and in-house streaming services.

The blackout rule is covered by UEFA regulations by countries that specifically request it - including England. That has now been lifted for the remainder of the current season, with the ruling set to revert at the end of the campaign.
