Why Nottingham Forest's yellow card count reset date differs from their Championship rivals

The Championship season is now well underway with the busy Christmas period now fast approaching for Nottingham Forest.

During that spell the division will reach the 23-game mark with almost every team in the league having faced off against the entire division once.

But with games comes suspensions and injuries, and Sabri Lamouchi's side have three players who are already wishing the games away.

Sammy Ameobi, Brice Samba and Samba Sow have all picked up four bookings so far this campaign, meaning one more would see them handed a one-game ban.

And for most clubs, they only have 90 minutes left to get through before the number of cards needed for a ban rises from five games to 10.

But Forest players will have to wait a little longer thanks to their game in hand on the rest of the division. That's because their October clash with Reading was postponed thanks to a waterlogged pitch at the City Ground.

That means Samba, Ameobi and Sow will have to get through important games against Cardiff City and Millwall without picking up a booking should they want to avoid suspension.

Forest's game in hand will remain on their record for a while yet with that postponed game against the Royals rearranged to take place on January 21.
