Experts urge Android users to delete a swathe of apps from their phones

Experts have listed a number of types of apps people should delete from Android devices to improve phone performance and security. Different types of apps could be slowing down your phone and putting your private data at risk, reports The Sun.

Android users have been advised to remove 'bloatware' apps - including things that come preinstalled such as parental controls. If you don't use them, removing them will boost phone performance.

Old utilities you no longer use as they now come installed on the latest operating systems should also be removed, such as flashlights, QR readers and screen recorders.

Apps which clam to boost performance or battery life are also just taking up space.

Duplicate apps, while taking up space, can also put you at risk of hacking. If you have two browsers on your phone then the old passwords and cookie data could make you vulnerable.

You should also delete the apps for any social media platforms you no longer use, as well as any apps or games you no longer need.
