The Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons are in similar situations as we prepare kick off the 2019 NFL season. Both teams missed the playoffs last year, but both possess enough talent to not only return to the postseason but potentially be Super Bowl contenders.
The Vikings have won three straight meetings between the two teams and historically have dominated the Falcons in the month of September. They are 4-point favorites for the season opener. Let’s take a look at who the experts are picking for this Week 1 showdown.
NFL.com: Vikings
Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com predicted the Vikings will win, 34-27.
ESPN: Vikings
Four out of the seven writers on ESPN’s panel picked Minnesota.
USA Today: Vikings
It wasn’t as close among the USA Today writers, with six of the seven panelists picking the Vikings.
CBS: Falcons
Finally, a little love for Atlanta. Five of the eight experts on CBS Sports’ panel picked the Falcons.
SB Nation: Vikings
Six out of the 10 writers at SB Nation are going with Minnesota.
It’s not surprising that most are picking the Vikings to win since they are playing at home in one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL. An upset would be a great way for Atlanta to start the season.
