Expert tells of seven foods that will help burn belly fat

Getting rid of belly fat can often be the last place people lose weight as their diet continues.

Fat around your middle can be one of the more dangerous parts of the body to carry weight and can even increase the risk of serious health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer.

However, one expert has revealed seven foods they swear by that will help you burn belly fat.

1. Yoghurt

Studies have found that eating yoghurt can help you to lose weight.

One study found that obese adults who ate three servings of fat-free yoghurt a day while being on a reduced-calorie diet lost significantly more fat and weight than those who were also on a decreased-calorie diet but didn't have yoghurt.

Those who ate yoghurt lost 22% more weight and 61% more body fat than the other participants.

2. Edamame

Edamame beans are soybeans harvested before they are fully mature.

The beans are high in fibre and nutrients and can be added to any meal as a side. It is very low in calories and will make a tasty addition to any meal.

3. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a natural laxative and is known to improve digestion.

It also lowers blood sugar levels and improves insulin sensitivity.

Diluted in water, apple cider vinegar is a satiety making you feel fuller for longer and is known to reduce belly fat.

It also lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, improving heart health.

4. Beans

Chronic inflammation in the digestive system can lead to an increase in weight gain.

Beans contain high levels of soluble fibre, which helps to illuminate inflammation in the intestine.

5. Salmon

Experts don't recommend you to cut fat out of your diet completely as this can be difficult and unrealistic to maintain.

Instead, try eating good fats. Stay away from saturated fats found in meat and dairy and opt for polyunsaturated fats like salmon.

6. Red peppers

Red peppers are high in vitamin C, which aids in the reduction and prevention of belly fat.

7. Broccoli

Broccoli is also high in vitamin C, so it serves the same purpose as red peppers. Try replacing some component of your meal with broccoli as it has many health benefits and will also keep you feeling fuller for longer.
