Asking your employer for a pay raise can be a daunting task as many people find the conversation awkward and uncomfortable.
However, a workplace relations expert has said you should always ask for a raise if you feel you are deserving of one.
Taking to TikTok career and confidence coach Sam shares three steps that will make you more confident when asking for a larger pay packet.
She said: "So you know you deserve a raise at work, but you've no idea how to ask for it. This is for you.
"Here are the three key steps to asking for a raise and getting it."

1. Prepare
Sam said the first step is preparation. It is crucial to outline what you add to the company and how you have improved the business throughout your time in the role.
She said: "Write down all of your accomplishments in your role. Ways that you've impacted the business."
The expert advised bringing proof of good performance as this will help your employer see that you are an asset to the company.
She said: "Quantify wherever you can. Bring your recent performance review scores and colleague feedback too."
2. Research
The next essential step is research. Make sure you know what you are asking for and that it is a realistic amount for the role you are carrying out.
Sam said: "Research your market rate. You can use payscale, glassdoor. You can also ask your HR team what the salary range is for the role that you're in.
"You just need to know what number it is that you're asking for."
3. Practice
After steps one and two are complete, Sam recommends practising what you want to say aloud.
This is a practical step as some may become flustered when talking to a superior.
She said: "Once you have all of this information laid out, you're prepared, and you can practice out loud."
Sam also outlined things you should and shouldn't say when asking for a raise.
She said it is important to avoid phrases such as I'm doing the work of two people or
so and so makes more than me.
You must also stay clear of using personal reasons when asking for a pay bump.
For example, you should never say, 'I need to make more because I'm getting an apartment next year.'
Sam said using other phrases can make you sound more clear and concise.
