A woman has gone viral after she revealed a free hair growth hack that has been proven to work.
Taking to TikTok, the beauty blogger told viewers that by rubbing their nails together, they could stimulate hair growth.
She said: “Did you know that rubbing your fingernails together like this every daily stimulates the brain to send signals to adult stem cells to revive dormant and unproductive hair follicles.
“It also increases blood flow to the hair follicle for healthier hair growth.
“You think I’m crazy? Google it.”
People were blown away by the "weird" hack.
One viewer said: “She’s absolutely right… It’s Ayurvedic technique. Please keep your thumb facing upwards for better blood circulation while rubbing nails.”
Another said: “Not me aggressively doing it everyday forever”.
It's known as Balayam yoga or a nail rubbing yoga technique for hair regrowth.
In fact, it has been mentioned that balayam is the best natural treatment for hair problems.
This practice shows its impact on the hair as the nerves below the nail bed are connected to the scalp, and regular nail rubbing stimulates blood flow and oxygen to the scalp.
It also helps rejuvenate hair follicles and enhance hair growth by controlling DHT (Dihydrotestosterone).
Balayam is also considered as a mixed form of yoga and acupressure.
Benefits of nail rubbing:
- Nail rubbing is a relaxing exercise that can help calm the mind.
- Blood circulation to the scalp is boosted, which strengthens the hair follicles and provides a natural hair growth.
- It helps with enhancing the tone and volume of the hair and warding off grey hair from growing.
- Enhances blood circulation, which is associated with health benefits such as improved heart and lung function and increased energy levels.
How to practice nail rubbing
- Before starting the nail rubbing practice, sit in a sukhasana position for 5 minutes to relax your body and calm your mind.
- Place your hands at chest level and curl your fingers of both hands inwards towards your palm.
- Get the palms to touch each other to get support and bring your nails in contact with each other.
- Rub the nails of both your hands swiftly, only rubbing the nails and not the thumbnail. Ensure that you are rubbing nails vigorously so that the nerves under your nails get a good amount of friction.
- Keep rubbing your nails for 5-10 minutes and repeat the exercise twice a day.
