Now Christmas is behind us, households up and down the country will be busy clearing out their fridges and kitchens as we go into the New Year with healthier ambitions in mind.
But you might find that while cleaning out your fridge of all the Christmas food, you have a block or two of cheese left in there. Thankfully, cheese experts are here to help as they have indicated how best to store your cheese for the longest possible time and the answer might surprise you as they warn against using clingfilm to wrap your cheese up.
Patricia Michelson of La Fromagerie, London, told The Express you will "have problems" if you don't follow a few basic rules when storing your cheese.

To begin with, she issues a warning which might come as a shock to some foodies. She says you should not use clingfilm to wrap your cheese up and instead suggests a double-wrapping method which keeps the cheese in an airtight environment.
For this you can use wax-paper or baking parchment to wrap your cheese up initially.
Patricia points says it should then be kept in a "plastic container lined with a dampened kitchen towel or cloth."
This container can then placed into the fridge to stop any nasty bacteria from getting to the cheese which clingfilm is not able to stop on its own.
That is not all the expertise that Patricia has shared as she has provided another clever method for keeping cheese stored safely.
She says you can put two bog standard sugar cubes in the container with the cheese in the fridge.
According to the expert, the sugar helps to regulate the atmosphere in the box which means your cheese will be kept fresher.
Finally, while you should not use clingfilm, you can rub a flavourless or vegetable oil onto the surface of the cheese to keep it fresh.
The oil stops the cheese from hardening or even growing mould.
