Expert's natural £1 trick 'guarantees' ants will never enter your home this summer

As the weather begins to get warmer, the pest problems begin to ramp up, and during the late spring and early summer, ants begin building their mounds and start searching for food, and if households are not careful they may start taking up residence in homes.

Trying to get rid of ants can feel like an impossible task once they've already infiltrated your home, but it turns out there are steps you can take right now to prevent them from ever coming inside.

Fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have come to the rescue after a woman turned to them for help with the pesky insects.

She told how she was so fed up with ants coming into her home, writing: "Hi, I have ants coming into my house and even climbing onto the worktops.

"I've sprayed vinegar and put down pepper but they are still coming in. Has anyone had this experience and got rid of them effectively? Thanks."

Surprisingly, the most recommended method of getting rid of ants was to use talcum powder, which can be purchased from Wilko for as little as £1.

Talcum powder is a natural ant repellent, and it's safe for kids and pets.

One wrote: "Talcum powder will guarantee ants won't get into your home."

Another recommended: "Baby powder, they hate it and it works", whilst someone else said: "Follow the trail to the entry point then put talcum powder down to stop them coming into the house."

A cleaner said that some of her clients struggle with ants too, recommending talcum powder also. She said: "I'm a cleaner and a lot of my clients struggle with ants in their homes at this time of the year.

"I always suggest using talcum powder inside and outside at the point they are coming in through and ants will never enter your home as they despise it.

"I've stopped them in my home and been ant-free for two years now. It's so cheap, around £1 from most stores."

And pest control experts at Cannon Pest Management also recommended using talcum powder as a natural method.

They told the Express: "A substance we love but ants hate is talcum powder. Put a bit of it here and there in the trouble spots and it will really mess with the critters’ pheromone trail and clog up their airways."

Will you be trying this method? Let us know in the comments.
