A warning has been issued to anyone booking a European city break.
With Easter now out the way, the countdown to the summer holidays is well and truly on. Many budget airlines offer affordable routes to famous European capitals and holidaymakers may be looking to take advantage of this to enjoy a cultural retreat for a low price.
However, a finance expert from Gambling ‘N Go has urged people to take into account the full cost of the trip once you get there to get their value for money. Leo Coleman said: "Many people will consider a European city break over a week’s holiday as it is typically less expensive, as well as the fact that travelling isn’t too much of a hassle.

"However, with little knowledge about the city you’re heading too, you could end up spending a pretty penny. Fortunately, there’s many beautiful cities that won’t break the bank despite having so much to offer, whether that’s enjoying an inexpensive beer in Prague’s Old Square or indulging in delicious Polish food in Warsaw.”
Gambling 'N Go analysed factors such as flights from a London airport, a nights stay in a hotel, and a three-course meal for two in a mid-range restaurant to compile a list of the cheapest European capital cities to visit for a night's stay.
Warsaw took the crown for the cheapest European capital for a city break with a total price of £161.67 per night. A three-course meal for two only costs an average at £37.52 here and a return ticket will only set you back £88.89.
Surprisingly, Madrid came in second place with a night in the Spanish capital priced at a total of £184.80. The most expensive is Vaduz in Lithuania, which is priced at £1021.65. You can see the full list below:
