Expert issues warning of early cancer symptoms that appear in the morning

A health expert has sent out an important warning to Brits to make them aware of cancer symptoms that only occur in the morning.

Cancer symptoms can be difficult to spot, and can appear at any time, but some are more likely to show up earlier than others, reports the Daily Record. Being aware of these signs could help people get diagnosed quicker, and potentially save their life.

According to a top pharmacist, noticing changes in your routine early in the morning could be a sign, and you should visit the doctors right away. Abbas Kanani, a pharmacist at Chemist Click, has stated that fatigue, a continuous cough and night sweats could all be early warning signs for cancer.

The expert said that smokers often wake up with a cough, but if it persists for over two weeks, you should speak to a GP - regardless if you are a smoker or not. Another concerning sign is fatigue early in the morning, which is particularly worrying if accompanied by other symptoms.

Mr Kanani told the Express: "It’s normal to feel a little tired in the morning, but if this is not usual for you, or you are noticing fatigue lasting throughout the day, you should get this checked out."

The third symptom that Abbas Kanani pointed out was night sweats. If you wake up with a damp bed from sweat, this is the warning sign for night sweats.

Mr Kanani added: "Get this checked out with your GP, especially if night sweats are accompanied by fatigue, weight loss or bruising."

What are the symptoms of cancer?

According to the NHS, cancer symptoms that can appear at any time include:

  • Chest pain and breathlessness
  • Changes in bowel habits
  • Unusual bleeding
  • Lumps
  • Mole changes
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Tummy or back pain
  • Indigestion and heartburn
  • Itchy or yellow skin
Two things to cut out to avoid cancer

Cancer risks can be reduced significantly by cutting out two lifestyle choices - smoking and drinking. Cancer Research UK stated that quitting smoking is the "biggest preventable cause of cancer in the UK, and worldwide."

On the website, Cancer Research UK said: "The link between smoking and cancer is very clear. It causes at least 15 different types of cancer, including two of the most common, lung and bowel cancer."

According to the charity, there is no safe level of smoking, and cutting down on consuming alcohol can also lower the risk of cancer. The website also reads: "Alcohol causes 7 types of cancer, including breast, mouth and bowel cancer. Whatever your drinking habits, cutting down will reduce your risk."
