Expert explains simple money-saving tool for fuel as prices climb

A finance expert has revealed a simple tool to help save money on fuel as prices climb.

Fuel prices have been soaring since the onset of the US, Israel and Iran war, which resulted in the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial oil shipping lane.

The average price of diesel in the UK has now surpassed 190p a litre, figures last week revealed, having surged by more than a third since the conflict began and hitting the record high seen in 2022.

Appearing on BBC Morning Live on Tuesday (14 April), financial journalist Iona Bain revealed an easy-to-use tool that can help drivers save money on fuel.

Third-party websites, such as PetrolPrices.com, FuelSpy.co.uk, and FuelFinder.uk, “collate petrol and diesel prices in real time from petrol stations, creating tools that customers can use to compare costs in real time", she said.
