Experienced stunt pilot dies after plane 'loses control' and crashes into field

An experienced stunt pilot has died after a light aircraft crashed in a field in Kent.

Kent Police were called to the scene of the crash near Headcorn, between Maidstone and Ashford at 4.25pm on Sunday.

Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and an air ambulance.

Kent Police said a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is investigating the incident.

The victim is understood to have been an experienced stunt pilot.

Witnesses say the crashed plane was one of three light aircrafts being flown in the area.

One told Kent Online the stunt pilot's plane appeared to "have performed a stall turn and lost control."

Kent Police have issued a statement following the crash: "At 4.25pm on Sunday, May 9, 2021, Kent Police was notified that a light aircraft had crashed in a field near Headcorn.

"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and an air ambulance.

"A man was pronounced deceased at the scene."
