Expedia have today updated customers with their latest cancellation policies amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The online travel company are currently in the process of working through a vast quantity of claims and have today been keen to offer assurances.
In short, if you've made a 'non-refundable' purchase on hotels and flights through Expedia, hope is not lost.
Flights
If your flight is refundable - and you should have been informed of this by e-mail - you can click 'cancel' or 'change' on your itenitary. You can do this by clicking here and entering your login details.
Once you've followed these steps then you should receive a confirmation e-mail. The respective airlines will then begin to process the refund. Please be advised that, in most cases, waits will be between 6-8 weeks due to the unprecedented volume they are currently working through.
If your flight isn't yet refundable, Expedia are offering advice through their Customer Services Page.
It comes as no surprise that this also comes with the caveat that Expedia are still experiencing a huge spike in requests and wait times can therefore be long.
Hotels
Once again, if your hotel is refundable you can claim it through the "Manage Bookings" button found in your intenerary.
However, customers who have made bookings for hotel stays between March 19 2020 and May 31 2020 can expect to receive an email from Expedia in the coming days (if they haven't received one already).
Those who cancel can expect a full refund or, in some cases, a credit voucher. To be eligible for this offer, you must cancel your booking 24 hrs before check-in.
If the date of your booking has already passed, Expedia say they are "working to attend your needs as well". For those in this position, it is recommended to seek advice from their Customer Services Page.
For stays beyond May 31, Expedia recommend holding tight and listening out for updated advice as and when it becomes available.
