Expectant mother fearful to return home after being targeted by vandals

An expectant mother has said she is too afraid to return to her home after it was targeted by vandals.

Police officers were called to Pigott Avenue in south Bristol at around 9pm on Friday (September 6).

On arrival, they found a number of windows smashed as well as graffiti spray painted on the walls outside.

The 23-year-old who did not wish to be named, said she is now staying with a friend and is too fearful to return to her home following the incident.

"They smashed two windows, the door window and spray painted the floor of my driveway," she said.

"I don't feel safe being there anymore and my mental health is spiralling out of control.

"I just want to be safe with my child."

She said she is due to give birth soon and was preparing her home for the arrival of her child.

"I had everything sorted out and now it's all just gone," she said.

She added she has been in contact with Bristol City Council to find out whether she could move somewhere else.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has said it is appealing for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.

"We were called at around 9pm on Friday (September 6)," a police spokesman said.

"Two windows had been broken and graffiti had been spray painted on the outside of the property.

"Officers attended and carried out house to house enquiries.

"Unfortunately it doesn't appear there was any CCTV in the area.

"Anyone who has information can call 101 and quote reference number 5291206077."

Bristol City Council has been contacted for comment.
