Two people have attempted to rob a woman at knife point in a shopping centre carpark, police say.
A 19-year-old Torrens man was arrested after he allegedly demanded money from a woman while a co-offender allegedly threatened her with a knife in the Erindale Shopping Centre carpark, about 7pm on Sunday.
After a struggle with the victim, the alleged offenders fled the scene empty-handed in a Suzuki Swift.
Two hours later, ACT policing stopped the car on London Circuit and arrested one man.
He is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with one count of attempted aggravated robbery (in company).
ACT Policing's detective inspector Matt Reynolds said the arrest was a warning to criminal elements in the Canberra region.
"This is an excellent result for our officers, with the combined efforts of Criminal Investigations, General Duties, and Road Policing members securing the arrest of this offender only a short time after the alleged offence," he said.
"This is a timely reminder that if you commit crime in the ACT, expect to be caught, and expect to charged."
Investigations into the identity of the co-offender are ongoing.
