Expect outbreaks of rain but no snow in sight as Boxing Day temperatures remain mild

It looks like we're in for a fairly settled Boxing Day as fog will clear and temperatures are well above freezing.

But we will get some periods of rain in the region, albeit "light and patchy".

Temperatures are set to be as high as 6 °C with a minimum of 4°C later this evening.

On Friday, we may see some heavier spells of rain but again, it will be quite mild.

Here is what the Met Office says is in store for us:

Thursday

"A dry start for most, with fog patches lifting through the morning.

"Cloud will thicken as rain spreads eastwards through the afternoon.

"Most of this will be light and patchy, with some eastern areas staying largely dry. Feeling chilly. Maximum temperature 6 °C."

Thursday evening

"Staying largely cloudy through the night. Patchy rain in the evening will ease, leaving most areas dry.

"Extensive low cloud forming, with hill fog. Frost-free for most. Minimum temperature 4 °C."

Friday

"Outbreaks of rain will spread eastwards through the morning, possibly heavier for a time.

"Drier through the afternoon with the odd brighter break, but most will be cloudy. Milder. Maximum temperature 9 °C."
