Expect Bears to add more CBs to roster

The Bears have the 20th waiver position Wednesday based on last year’s record. Expect them to target cornerbacks on the waiver wire, as they have only four on the roster.

The Bears cut veteran cornerback Desmond Trufant on Tuesday; he spent the last 18 days in Washington state tending to family matters both before and after the death of his father. They waived rookie cornerback Thomas Graham Jr., a sixth-round pick who sat out of Oregon’s college season because of coronavirus concerns. The Bears also cut cornerback Artie Burns, a former Steelers first-round pick.

Veteran safeties Marqui Christian and Teez Tabor, who both played slot cornerback at times in camp, were cut, too.

The Bears could put one of the veterans back on the active roster once Jenkins transfers to IR. Because they’re veterans, Burns, Christian and Trufant don’t have to go through waivers.

Graham is expected to land on the Bears’ practice squad if he gets through waivers.
