Exit on cards for Nottingham Forest midfielder as Reds target attracts 'patronising' bids

Out-of-favour Nottingham Forest midfielder Fouad Bachirou is said to be closing in on a move to Cyprus.

The 31-year-old is among a group of players not part of Chris Hughton’s first-team set-up and told they are free to find new clubs this summer.

He made the move to the City Ground 12 months ago from Malmo, having been targeted by former Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi.

But he has struggled to make an impact in the Garibaldi, with injuries also playing a part as he fell down the pecking order.

And Cypriot website Sport FM report he looks set to join Omonia Nicosia after being identified as the “chosen one” to strengthen their midfield.

Game off

Nottingham Forest have cancelled Saturday’s scheduled friendly against Burnley at the City Ground.

The Reds’ trip to face Aston Villa on Wednesday lunchtime was called off at the last minute due to a “small number” of positive coronavirus test results in the Forest camp.

The club said: “Saturday’s final pre-season friendly against Burnley at the City Ground has unfortunately been cancelled.

'Disrespectful' bids

Hibernian sporting director Graeme Mathie has hit out at “disrespectful” and “patronising” bids for Nottingham Forest target Josh Doig.

A number of clubs have their eye on the teenage left-back, including the Reds as they look to solve a problem position before the new season starts.

Watford have reportedly already had a £2.5m offer turned down, while Premier League sides Arsenal, West Ham United and Leeds United, as well as Italian giants AC Milan, have also been linked.

Hibs are said to value their star defender at £5m after an impressive breakthrough campaign which saw him crowned SFWA Young Player of the Year.

On the move

Nottingham Forest-linked striker M'Baye Niang is said to have agreed a move to Italy.

Reports in France suggested the Reds had been in touch with Rennes about the frontman as they look to strengthen their attacking resources this summer.

It was claimed Celtic and Anderlecht had also made contact, while an approach from FC Nantes had been turned down, and several Turkish sides were also keeping tabs.

However, according to Sky Sports Italy, Niang has “said yes” to a switch to Venezia, with his transfer “getting closer and closer”.
