Ciara Phillips’s latest prints zing with bright colours, smeared paint and layered textures. Inspired by a recent foray into ceramics, the Glasgow-based artist has translated the experience of getting down and dirty with bits of clay, into a more hands-on approach to printmaking. Beginning with a motif borrowed from a Liberty print silk scarf, she’s adapted the pattern in an ever-growing array of spots and stripes. Lime green dots and orange bars dance over a sunny yellow ground as things are pushed to the limit by Phillips.
