Exhibition-cum-sale platform for SHGs in Belagavi

An exhibition-cum-sale platform for products of self-help groups is being put up at the Belagavi Airport in Sambra.

This is part of the Airport as Venue for Skilled Artisans of the Region (AVSAR) Scheme being implemented across airports operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to allocate space for local SHGs for selling or showcasing their products.

Several airports have already installed such platforms.

It is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to empower women, artisans and craftsmen.

The scheme will provide opportunities to functionally effective self-earned groups for self-reliance and self-dependence.

Around 100-200 sq ft of land will be earmarked for the AVSAR scheme in the airports.

Space will be given to SHGs on turns for two weeks, said a release.
