Exhausted parents create cunning solution to Elf on the Shelf problems

Christmas is coming which means thousands of parents will be tearing their hair out trying to come up with clever Elf on the Shelf ideas.

The little red Elf is a part of a Christmas tradition from America which started 10 years ago.

The tradition says that the elves watch over the children to see if they’ve been good or bad in the run up to Christmas and then they report back to Father Christmas.

So each day of December, the elves move around the house to different spots before flying back to the north pole on Christmas Eve.

While this is a lovely idea, it can be hard to think of a new location every day, but now one parent has come up with the perfect solution.

The idea was posted to the Elf on the Shelf ideas page on Facebook back in December 2017  and was applauded by thousands.

The cunning parent put the elf's leg in a cast and told their children Santa had said he couldn't move for two weeks. Inspired.

In just one day, the post was shared over 16,000 times, by exhausted parents.

One person tagged in their friend and said: "Were sorted no more waking up middle of the night in a panic trying to remember if I've moved the elfs."

While another said: "Thought my idea of putting in bed for a day or two because shes poorly was a good one...why didnt I think of broken bones."

And a third commented: "My elf has gone back to Santa for a couple of days to help with presents etc... I’m definitely doing this one to."
