Exhausted Kate Garraway breaks cover before GMB after emotional Derek Draper warning

Poor Kate Garraway looks exhausted ahead of her return to Good Morning Britain.

The presenter has announced she'll be going back to work on the ITV show, and at Smooth Radio, after giving an emotional update on the condition of her husband Derek Draper.

The 52-year-old, who has done her best to remain strong as Derek battles coronavirus, was pictured out in London today.

Kate was dressed in a black and white print jumpsuit and sliders as she headed out.

The star went makeup-free and pulled her blonde hair back in a ponytail, and was clutching her purse, phone and car keys.

With no time to waste, Kate was eating a snack on the go, too.

It comes after fresh hope for Derek, who is dad to Kate's children Darcey and Billy, as he emerged from the deep intensive care coma he's been in for weeks into a "minimum state of consciousness".

But sadly his battle is far from over.

Kate has said that even though Derek is now free of the COVID-19 virus, it's wreaked havoc on his body and he's "lost a huge amount of weight" during his health battle.

She's said that he "looked so different" on a recent FaceTime after he was shaved because his beard had grown long.

She's recently confirmed she's returning to GMB (Beretta/Sims/REX/Shutterstock)

The former I'm A Celebrity campmate told Hello magazine : "Derek's lost a huge amount of weight and when the nurse shaved him because his beard had grown so long, he looked so different.

"[Darcey and Billy] had never seen him without stubble or a beard before.

"During their chats, they tell him what they've been doing and their sense of humour often shines through."

Kate told her fans on Instagram that Derek's battle for health is still "very uncertain".

She wrote on Instagram: "Thank you so much to @hellomag for helping me to bring you some of my hopes and plans for the future.

"The future we are really hoping for, Derek recovering & coming home is not nearly in sight & very uncertain."

Kate was warned by doctors six times that Derek was dying.

She's now preparing to return to work after doctors told her she needs to get back to her normal routine as best she can.

Her GMB colleague Dr Hilary Jones has said Derek's recovery "shouldn't be underestimated" and that he'll need to "learn how to walk and talk again".

He said: "What we also know is that many people that have recovered from COVID-19 have taken a long time to recover and are still recovering.

"So it's still a chronic illness, even when people survive and they're having to learn to walk again, talk again so we shouldn't underestimate.

"It's not just you have it and you're lucky to survive it, life is back to normal. It's not like that."
