Exeter's new £40m retail park finally approved fourth time around

A huge new multi million pound retail park for Exeter has been given the green light.

But it hasn't been an easy road for the development which was rejected three previous times, Devon Live reported.

Councillors agreed to approve the new £40million park on the edge of the city on Monday night (January 6).

Big retailers including McDonald's and Next have already declared an interest in moving to the retail park, which will be located off Honiton Road, near the Sowton Industrial Estate.

Called the Moor Exchange site, the retail and leisure hub will be on land north of Honiton Road and to the west of Fitzroy Road, next to the Premier Inn.

Which shops and restuarants will be at the retail park?

  • McDonald's drive-thru
  • Costa drive-thru
  • Next
  • M&S Simply Food
  • Boots
  • A yet-to-be-named discount food retailer
  • A post office
  • A newsagent
  • A bank
  • A gym
  • A restaurant
  • A hot food takeaway unit
  • A shop

If  further reserved matters planning application is approved by Exeter City Council, building works could commence towards the end of 2020.
