A 27-year-old man has been charged with the murders of three elderly men in Exeter.

Alexander Lewis-Ranwell, from Braunton, has been charged with the murder of Anthony Payne, aged 80, who was found dead on Monday.

He is also charged with the murders of 84-year-old twin brothers Richard and Roger Carter, whose bodies were found on Tuesday.

Post-mortems found all three men died of "sustained serious head injuries".

Lewis-Ranwell has also been charged with two offences of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He remains in custody and is due to appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
