Exeter boss Matt Taylor has noticed something key about Notts County fans

Exeter City manager Matt Taylor has noticed how Notts County fans are trying to give the Magpies an added edge in their fight against relegation.

The Grecians boss brings his side to Meadow Lane on Saturday hoping for a victory that can keep their top-seven ambitions on track.

But he is expecting a tough game against Notts, who are scrapping for their lives at the foot of the table and are three points adrift of third-bottom Yeovil.

Michael Doyle says 'relegation would absolutely kill me' in Notts County war cry

But Taylor says he has noticed that the fans have not turned on Neal Ardley's side as a result of their perilous position.

“I have watched a few of their games at Notts County in the last month or so and the crowd are behind them," he said.

“They can see a team that is working hard for them and a manager that has given them a structure and organisation to work from and they are right up for it – as they should be being bottom of the league.

“But we have to be the same. We have to play a sensible game away from home and hurt them at every opportunity and we will do that by using the ball wisely and retaining possession, but also having an attacking intent about us.

Neal Ardley hoping passionate atmosphere from Notts County fans can inspire crucial victory

“It comes down to the basics. We have said it week in week out – League Two football comes down to the basics.

“The three goals we scored last week were from goal kicks. The quality was in the finish, but everything in the build up to those goals was what I am after as a manager.”
