Exempt our staff from late C-charge, plead casino bosses

Casinos today appealed to Sadiq Khan to exempt their late-night staff from the 10pm extension of the congestion charge which comes into force on Monday.

Thousands face being hit by bills of about £300 a month.

The plea comes after the Mayor was forced to raise the C-charge from £10.50 to £15 and extend its hours to help fill a financial black hole in Transport for London budgets.

The British Gaming Council said 2,415 staff at 15 of its members’ casinos drive to work and will have to pay the late-night charge.

It claimed staff in central London often had no choice but to drive because most public transport had stopped by the time they left work.
