Exclusive: Matty Longstaff's Newcastle future in the balance after midfielder receives new Euro offer

Newcastle United teenager Matty Longstaff now has an offer on the table from an ambitious European club.

Chronicle Live understands that despite links with Inter Milan and Marseille, the club in question have been quietly going about their business and are keen for the teenager to link up with them in July at the end of his current professional deal with the Magpies.

Despite positive noises coming from the United back-room team there are no "round the table" talks planned with either Matty or his older brother Sean planned in the next week or so.

With just two months of the season left it is starting to be a concern for supporters but despite Newcastle believed to be aware of the deal on the table for the 19-year-old England youth international he is yet to receive a counter-offer from Newcastle.

Sean Longstaff's situation is less urgent as he has two years left to run on a deal that was signed last season.

Newcastle rejected an official approach from Manchester United last summer and stated he was "not for sale".

But in the six months that have passed by, he is yet to be offered what he sees as a satisfactory contract extension.

Matty is reaching the stage where he needs both regular first-team football and coaching in order for him to reach his greatest potential.

When asked about the pair's futures, Bruce said earlier this year: "Look we want them to stay here.

"They are both Geordie lads.

"But this is where we are at the moment"
