Exclusive: Jayden Braaf facing uncertain Man City future after first-team snub

Manchester City youngster Jayden Braaf has been left frustrated by being left out of the first-team picture.

With the Premier League season a week away from resuming and the Blues having between 11 and 13 games to complete by the end of July depending on their success in the FA Cup, it is expected that managers will need to use the depths of their squad; nine substitutes will be permitted in games with five allowed to come on.

However, despite the presence of a few academy players in first-team training - Felix Nmecha, Tommy Doyle, and Taylor Harwood-Bellis have all been spotted - Pep Guardiola appears to be content with the group of senior players he has to work with.

Braaf, who has shone in the academy since moving to Manchester two years ago, has been told not to report for training until July 6 and is unclear whether that will be with the first team or the Under-23s.

Sources close to the player told M.E.N Sport that the 17-year-old has been disappointed by the lack of clarity and attention, having been told when signing for the club that he would be given first-team opportunities if he developed. He is not expecting game time, but sees first-team training as an important step in improving him as a player.

Braaf is understood to still be happy in Manchester and his aim remains to break into the first team at the Etihad under Guardiola. However, the failure to call on him as the season prepares to return has disappointed the player and encouraged clubs in Germany and the Netherlands that are keen on signing him.
