Parul Chauhan, who was last seen in the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is returning to the screen after a gap of three years with the show Dharm Yoddha Garud. Ask the actress what prompted her to quit her last show which was doing well for her career and she shared, “Well, in Yeh Rishta... I was playing the mother of the lead of the show then, Mohsin Khan, who was just six months younger than me. In fact, when we use to do scenes together, he was like how should I address you as a mother,” she said, adding, “I was okay playing a mother to him but then there were plans of a leap in the show, and I would have played a grandmother to his kids. As luck would have it, I was getting married in real life at the same time. At that time I didn’t want to play a grandmother on screen. I take decisions where I do not have to regret them later. So I don’t regret quitting the show when my character was doing well.”
Telling us how marriage has changed her, Parul shared, “Marriage has made me a mature and responsible person. My husband has been quite supportive throughout the journey. I like taking care of the little things for my in-laws. I like taking care of the house too. I am really enjoying my married life.”
But the actress says that she has no plans to extend her family. “I don’t want to have kids and I am very open about it. My husband and I share the same thoughts about this. I like kids but only if they are of some other people (laughs). Plus, there is no pressure on me to have a child and my in-laws have also been very supportive about it. I am the way I am.”
Coming back to her professional life, Parul, who is playing a vampish character in Garud, said, “I am doing a comeback after three years, and I am doing a negative role for the first time. I really liked the switch from being a normal household girl to being a devil character. I did not have any second thoughts when I got the call for this offer. I was adamant to play this role and want to make this role a benchmark,” she said, adding, “As an actor, I want to make this character of mine unique to an extent where people get shocked. I also love the look of the character and really liked the jewellery and the makeup of Kadru. However, carrying the posture and body language of the character has become slightly challenging for me. The strenuous posture, the heavy mukut and wig, and the dialogues and their pitch have started taking a toll on my physical health. I get frequent backaches and headaches of late. At times I had to take a lot of medicines. However, I enjoy every bit of It and I really like what I add as an actor to the character of Kadru.”
