EXCLUSIVE: Hibs' Graeme Mathie at front of queue to become Kilmarnock head of football operations

Graeme Mathie is the front-runner to become Kilmarnock’s new head of football operations.

The 36-year-old is currently head of player identification and recruitment at Hibs.

Mathie- whose dad Ross also played for Killie-  was previously a scout at Celtic before he headed to Easter Road.

The former Motherwell player has worked alongside several Hibs managers like Alan Stubbs, Neil Lennon and now Paul Heckingbottom.

Mathie works strongly on data analysis and has also put together a number of presentations for in-coming transfers at Hibs.

Kilmarnock are looking to revamp their football operations department and Mathie is very much at the forefront of their thoughts.

Former chief executive Kirsten Callaghan stepped down earlier in the season and the Killie board have since decided to split that role into two separate positions, as head of football operations and a club secretary.

Kilmarnock named Karen Costello, who has moved from the Scottish Football Association, as their new club secretary yesterday.

Former Hibs chief Garry O’Hagen had filled the void of interim chief executive but he is set to take up an advisory role to the Kilmarnock board.

The new roles should avoid all the upheaval that Killie went through in the summer after boss Steve Clarke quit for Scotland in the summer.

His recruitment chief Tony Spearing also quit and new boss Angelo Alessio struggled to bring in new players of quality.
