Exclusive: FSG and Michael Edwards' inspiration on Liverpool’s world-leading transfer market strategy

Liverpool's transfer recruitment strategy is famous for its efficiency these days - and is currently the envy of the rest of the football world.

Jurgen Klopp is the man to pull it all together, while Michael Edwards as sporting director leads those who use data, analytics and science to target the best players out there - not just those who are great at football, but those who are perfectly suited to playing the way the Reds play.

The Blood Red podcast spoke exclusively to the man who inspired it all, Billy Beane, the Moneyball pioneer, to get the inside track on how Liverpool go about signing and scouting players, plus his relationship with Reds owner John W Henry.

Beane was the man to transform baseball and take the subjectivity out of signings - and that is what FSG wanted to replicate when they bought Liverpool, just as they had done with the Boston Red Sox.

Now they have successfully done just that, Beane spoke to Blood Red's Matt Addison for a special podcast. To gain exclusive access to it before everyone else, simply sign up to the Liverpool ECHO newsletter by clicking this link.
