How does it feel to be a part of the ET Inspiring Women 2021 Awards?
I don't know how to put this into words, because I have no words, it's really overwhelming for me to be present here. It is too much for me to digest at this moment. I feel really grateful for whatever I've done probably to be here and receiving an award. I don't know what more to say.
What excites you to be a part of the TV world and keeps you going?
The fact that I see people smiling and I can see people connect with whatever I play on-screen and they love seeing that. It just gives me a kick to perform and do something more and entertain people, that's what keeps me going.
Playing ‘Prerna’ was not that easy for you. There were ups and downs, playing a different character completely. Also, the comparison with Shweta Tiwari kept on happening. So how did you dealt with it?
Initially, I thought it would be very tough for me. But, the fact that it was for a different generation, done by a different generation, that's what actually made it easier for me and I didn't want to do the same thing that she did. So I tried to do it in my own way and tried to put some more of me into the character to play the character. That's what I do with most of my characters.
Though we get to see you guys fight but offscreen, you have different chemistry altogether, be it with Parth, or be it with different characters in the serial. So how do you maintain that?
I think as actors, we have learnt to snap in and snap out of characters very easily when we're on set. It happens on set, if you ask me to just do something right now, I'll not be able to do that very well, because you are in that whole atmosphere, the whole environment where you know that this is work and this is what we have to perform and this is how we have to do it. I'm the worst liar ever. If you ask me to play a prank on someone like that, I'll just start smiling and it is just a giveaway, that she's up to something. And if you ask me to do the same thing in a scene, I can just do it. So the thing with us, onscreen and offscreen is that we're so comfortable with each other that we're able to perform so well on-screen because the give and take is there. So that is required.
Your Instagram game is quite on fire. How do you manage that?
I believe more in quality than quantity. So I'm not usually posting too much. I just put out a certain few things. I'm someone who likes things organized. I just don't like things out of place. So that's how I maintain my profile. A lot of fans complain about the grids and all but that's how I like it. It's my profile and that's how I like to maintain it.
What's keeping you busy right now?
My shoot. Right now, I'm doing 'Kuch Rang', which is the season 3. And that's what is keeping me busy.
Apart from that, are you taking on any more projects?
I am in talks with a few projects, but as of now, this is keeping me quite busy. So whenever anything happens, I'll let you all know.
What do you have to say about your association with Ekta Kapoor?
Working with her also has gotten me to where I am today. Everything is put together as a team, the teamwork and you know who you work with, that's how you get recognised.
