EXCLUSIVE: East Kilbride boss confirms Chris Erskine set for FIFTH tier switch after Livingston exit

Boss Stevie Aitken has revealed he expects East Kilbride to complete the shock signing of Chris Erskine within the next 24 hours.

The 33-year-old was playing in the Scottish Premiership with Livingston last season, however he  told Lanarkshire Live Sport last month that he was prepared to drop down to Scotland’s fifth tier.

He will join Northern Ireland cap Paul Paton in dropping down the divisions to the K-Park if the one-year deal is green lit.

After holding initial talks, Kilby gaffer Aitken exclusively confirmed to Lanarkshire Live Sport that he hopes to complete the sensational swoop by tomorrow night.

“It’s a major coup for the club,” he said.

“It’s great to have a local East Kilbride lad come to the club from such a high level.

“Chris can see the vision that the club have and where we can go from here.

“It’s his local club and he wanted to come back and see what he can do.

“It’s good for the club as Chris can obviously play at a very high level still like he did last season with Livingston and he is still a good age.

“It’s good for Chris as he gets to come to his hometown team as we build something for the future."
