Exclusive: Dominic Calvert-Lewin on 'funny' Moise Kean situation as he offers advice to Everton striker

Dominic Calvert-Lewin admits he has taken Moise Kean under his wing at Everton and has likened his own arrival at Goodison Park to the Italian's current situation.

Calvert-Lewin has scored 13 times this season despite Kean's summer signing looking to have pushed the 22-year-old down the pecking order.

He has went on to net 11 Premier League goals - the same amount as he managed in his previous three campaigns - while Kean has played second-fiddle for the majority of Carlo Ancelotti's reign.

"It's funny, really, because I think about Moise and I can liken my situation in the team from when I first came in to his, the expectation of an Everton centre-forward," Calvert-Lewin told the ECHO after scoring in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.

"He's still 19, so I try and put an arm around him when I can and just try and give him any advice I can whether that's on the pitch or off the pitch.

"The most important thing is to never stop believing in yourself because I believe that's what has got me here. There have been times when I could have crumbled under the pressure but I'm here today and I'm happy to have scored another goal."

Calvert-Lewin has worked with Romelu Lukaku and Oumar Niasse during his time at Everton and says working with a range of strike partners has helped his game blossom.

"It's been a constant learning experience for me," he said. "I've played alongside a few different centre-forwards now, starting with Romelu when I first came into the team.

"In my years, from a teenager into my early-20s, it's been a good learning experience where I've had to take everything in like a sponge really.

"It's not been an overnight success but I do feel like now I'm reaping the rewards from the work I've put in."
