Exclusive: Chelsea loanee set to seek permanent transfer from Stamford Bridge this summer

Tomas Kalas is set to seek a permanent transfer away from Chelsea this summer, football.london understands .

The 25-year-old made the switch to Stamford Bridge in 2010 but has bounced around the loan system.

The Czech Republic international has had spells at Sigma Olomouc, Vitesse Arnhem, FC Koln, Middlesbrough and Fulham, before spending the 2018/19 Championship season with Bristol City.

In fact, Kalas has made just four appearances for Chelsea in those nine years, twice in the Premier League, once in the League Cup and once in the Champions League during the 2013/14 campaign.

The centre-back signed a new four-year deal with Chelsea in the summer of 2017, however football.london understands that the defender is likely to look to end his time in west London permanently.

Kalas made 35 appearances for Bristol City this season, along with Jay Dasilva and Kasey Palmer also at the club, with Robins boss Lee Johnson

"I do believe this is the right football club for them," Johnson told  BBC Bristol  after the one all against Hull City in their final game of the season.

"You never know what Chelsea have got in mind for them... I think they would be more than comfortable coming back & settling and rooting themselves in the Bristol area & driving us forward."

Of course, the transfer ban that Chelsea currently have might play a part in whether or not Kalas will get his wish.

Chelsea might have an issue to sort out in the centre-back area with Gary Cahill being set to leave the club and David Luiz's contract situation still not sorted to keep him for next season.

However, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori are set to be above Kalas in the pecking order, with Maurizio Sarri to look at the players during pre-season training.
