Vikas Manaktala aka cadet Amar Huda from Left Right Left, entered as a wild card contestant on Bigg Boss 16, recently. The actor, who was last seen in the show Namah as Shiva, seemed pretty excited to be participating in the reality show. In an exclusive chat with us, Vikas, before entering the Bigg Boss house, shared his preparations for the reality show. Excerpts:
What prompted you to be a part of the show this season?
For the past few years, I realized that for Bigg Boss honesty is what works for the show and not playing games or strategizing. So this was really a big convincing factor for me to participate in the show this year. I realized that only playing mind games or making a strategy on this show by the contestants is not required which had been my perception all this while.
Being an introvert do you think that the journey is going to be a difficult one for you?
I am actually an introvert and I really want to experience the counterpart. And I have been really working on my social skills all this while. And I realized that even for our profession being an extrovert and social is a good thing as it keeps you in the limelight. So, I think the show is going to be a great platform for me for that.
But why as a wild card entry?
Because things did not work out at the start of this season. I have been offered Bigg Boss for the last five years. So this year, when at the start it was offered to me, I wasn't ready for it. And when I was, a few things had to be taken care of by the show's team which couldn't materialize in time. Then the makers got back to me again with the wild card option, which I accepted.
However, we have rarely seen a wild card entry making it to the finale of a reality show like Bigg Boss or winning it...
I am going only to win the show. Why not create history with a wild card contestant winning Bigg Boss? Does it really matter how much time a contestant has spent inside the house to win it? At the end of the day, if I go and my connection with the audience is much more than the people who have been staying there from the start, then wouldn't it be easy to win it? I want to be positive and look at the advantages of being a wild card entry. I don't want to think that a wild card contestant can not win Bigg Boss.
Do you have any friends inside the house?
No, I don't. They are from the industry but I have no acquaintances or friends.
Have you been following this season?
I have. I really like Ankit Gupta and Abduroziq's demeanour and personalities. I connect with them not because they are introverts like me but because they make sense. It is not necessary that you have to have a loud voice to be correct or have an opinion and these two contestants prove this right.
