Arsenal have agreed to terminate Sokratis Papastathopoulos' contract, football.london understands.
Sokratis is out of contact at the Gunners in June and is trying to secure a move away from the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.
The 32-year-old made his first appearance since the FA Cup final win over Chelsea last June in the EFL Trophy in December, and played a couple of games for Arsenal under 23s towards the end of last year.
He leaves with 69 appearances under his belt and an FA Cup winner's medal.
football.london reported in November that the former Borussia Dortmund defender chose to play for Arsenal Under-23s as he looked to increase his match sharpness ahead of a potential January move.
"The fact that I went and played with Arsenal U23's but also that I will play again until January at least is clearly my choice and my honour!" he said.
"In these 15 long years of my career, I have more than 560 appearances, over 25 goals, winning 6 titles in three different leagues, and three important tournaments with my country.
"My career is very big and will continue to grow even more, so you on the keyboard can continue to disrespect values and careers just to get a 'like' and a comment. We will speak from January."
The decision to leave has been a mutual one, with the club and player agreeing to mutually terminate his contract this month.
He will leave the Emirates at the same time as Mesut Ozil, who is also terminating his contract with the club to make the move to Fenerbahce.
