Exclusive and sought after Wirral villages and towns where celebrities live

Wirral has so many beautiful little towns and villages, all with their own unique selling points and histories.

Stunning views across the coastline, beautiful pockets of green spaces and stories of its rich heritage are on offer around every corner.

There is no wonder many chose to live here, including some famous faces.

We have had a look at some of the places in Wirral celebrities have chosen to call their home.

West Kirby

This coastal town is on the north-west corner of the Wirral Peninsula on the eastern side of the mouth of the Dee Estuary, opposite North Wales.

In 2019, the Sunday Times voted West Kirby one of the best places to live in Britain, highlighting its cosy cafes, marine Lake and walks to Hilbre Island among its charms.

Also noted are its highly-regarded schools, West Kirby Grammar and Calday Grange, and St Bridget’s C of E primary.

The average price of houses in the area according to Rightmove is a whopping £332,314.

Famous celebs who have lived in the area include James Bond star Daniel Craig and comedian and radio broadcaster Pete Price. Controversial Conservative politician Esther McVey also lived in the area when she was Wirral West MP.

Caldy

Caldy has been home to footballing royalty down the years, with high-profile football celebrities such as Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush having lived there.

The quiet Wirral village is now home to Rafa Benitez and his wife, Montse, along with their two daughters, Claudia and Agata, who were born in Madrid and Valencia respectively.

The average house price in Caldy has gone up a little in the last year and now stands at £960,591, according to Rightmove.

Irby

Irby is a village located on the north Wirral Peninsula and according to the last census of the area has a population of just over 6,000.

Despite the suburban character of most of its neighbourhoods, Irby is surrounded on all sides by a large amount of green belt and woodland.

The average price of houses in the area according to Rightmove is £221,441.

Famous celebs who have lived here include former Liverpool FC and Tranmere Rovers footballer John Aldridge, actress and model Dinah May, and comedian John Bishop.

Heswall

This town on the coast is located on the eastern side of the Dee Estuary and comes with views across the river to North Wales.

Heswall has several areas of open space, with the largest being the Dales, an area of dry, sandy heathland overlooking the River Dee, which is both a site of special scientific interest and a nature reserve.

Considered by many as a desirable place to live, Paul McCartney once bought a mock-Tudor house for his dad in the town.

The average price of houses in the area according to Rightmove is an eye-watering £375,531.

Famous celebs who have called Heswall home include broadcasting legend John Peel, singer with rock band The Cult Ian Astbury, cricketer Ian Botham, TV presenter Fiona Bruce, former Liverpool player John Barnes and singer and bass guitarist for band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), Andy McCluskey.
