'Exciting times' - New signing Djed Spence sends message to Nottingham Forest fans

Nottingham Forest brought their summer transfer window to a successful conclusion after being given the green light to sign Middlesborough full-back Djed Spence.

The 21-year-old has joined the Reds on a season-long loan in a deal which was completed just before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

There was uncertainty over whether Forest had sealed the transfer in time, but the EFL have ratified the move, making Spence available to Chris Hughton for when Forest return to Championship duty at Cardiff City on Sunday, September 12.

Spence has taken to social media following confirmation of his move, tweeting: “Very happy to be joining Nottingham forest football club, exciting times ahead! See you all at the City Ground soon!”

Replying, Spence was wished well by both Forest and Boro fans.

All the best @DjedSpence ” said one Boro supporter while another added: “Best of luck Djed.

A third said: “Good luck young man, it is just a loan right?”

Speaking on the club's YouTube channel, Spence said: “It’s a good feeling and I’m ready to crack on. It’s a big club with big history. Hopefully we can keep progressing as a club. I just want to help.

“It was my first deadline day (transfer). It was pretty stressful so I’m happy to get it over the line.

“I just want to play games, do well for the team and do well for myself.”
