'Exciting prospect' Harvey Elliott signs first professional contract with Liverpool

Harvey Elliott has signed a first professional contract with Liverpool, three months after turning 17.

The Reds and their young winger had reportedly agreed terms earlier in the year and officially announced the deal on Monday.

Elliott, a right-sided forward, debuted for Fulham in the League Cup aged just 15 years and 174 days, back in 2018 under Slavisa Jokanovic.

He joined Liverpool in the summer and has played eight times for the first team in 2019/20, including two sub appearances in the Premier League.

Elliott has signed a three-year contract, ensuring his development will continue with the Premier League champions.

Manager Jurgen Klopp told the club website that the youngster had the “perfect culture” to further his education at Melwood.

“Harvey is such an exciting prospect,” the German boss said.

“We all know his qualities – we have seen them this season in the first team and U23s.

I love his attitude – love his enthusiasm – love his bravery – love the fact he has the right amount of football confidence and cheekiness.”

Elliott follows Curtis Jones in pledging his future to the Reds, after the Toxteth-born attacking midfielder celebrated his own contract renewal with a first-ever Premier League goal in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at the weekend.
