Exciting plans show new store proposals for Cumbernauld retail park

A planning application to create two enlarged retail spaces at a shopping park in Cumbernauld has been submitted to North Lanarkshire Council.

The proposal would see two sets of three existing shop spaces at Westway Retail Park being merged to create the new premises, earmarked respectively for food sales and for mixed goods.

Plans show units 8-10 being combined into one space, earmarked for a food sales retailer; while units 5, 5A and 6 would become a proposed mixed discount store.

External steel towers at the existing doorways would be removed and various alterations made to the combined frontages; while the existing unit 7 would be left intact between the two newly-expanded stores.

The application, which is yet to be determined by the local authority, has been submitted by TJ Morris, which is the parent company of Home Bargains.

TJ Morris were unable to comment when contacted by Lanarkshire Live.
