'Exciting plans' announced as pub prepares for major improvements

Customers have welcomed new plans to make improvements to a popular Nottinghamshire pub.

The Nottingham Knight pub in West Bridgford would boast a new timber-framed pergola with heat lamps, fixed seating and lighting if the plans are approved.

In addition, the Loughborough Road venue would also feature a new timber feature archway, while two disabled parking spaced would be removed and the garden area extended.

People in the area told Nottinghamshire Live that the improvements will be a good idea.

Bev Cuff, 57, who is retired and from Newark, says she thinks the improvements are a good idea and that people will go there during the summer.

She said: “I think it’s a good idea. It’s nice and very friendly staff.

“I’m sure a lot of people will go in the summer. It’s dog friendly as well.

Nearby resident Gavin Day, 62, retired, added: “I would imagine that any improvements would be good.

“It’s a lovely building anyway - it’s a beautiful building.”

A spokesperson for the Nottingham Knight said: “We are really thrilled to have submitted a planning application for the refurbishment of our garden area at the Nottingham Knight.

"We’ve got some exciting plans for the outside of the pub and we look forward to sharing an update on the refurbishments in due course.”

The plans have been submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council and a decision is due to be made by Wednesday, April 20.
